Be the talk of the car pool.

Heidi Klum has teamed up with New Balance and Amazon.com to showcase her new active wear, for moms?

On Thursday night's episode of Project Runway where Klum is a lead judge the designers were given a challenge to create an active wear look for Heidi's Active wear line on Amazon.com the winner would get to display their winning design for the public to buy. Under careful scrutiny by Klum the designers completed the challenge with designer Andy not only winning but getting to display all 3 of his designs in the line.

It was mentioned several times throughout the episode Thursday that these clothes had to wearable by Moms. Klum is a mother of four and understands why style must also meet with comfort and wear ablity. The clothes, sizes x-small to x-large, are defiantly on the high end of prices but once you check out this collection you may want to add one or more pieces to your splurge list.

Book Review: The Little Black Book of Style : Nina Garcia

In 2007 Nina Garcia's The Little Black Book of Style hit the stores. Since then women across the country have edited down theirr wardrobe, bought with drama and are always properly dressed for the occasion. At least that is, those women who have read her book!

In this easy to read book on style Garcia speaks to you like a Girlfriend would over coffee. Only this girlfriend is the fashion director at Elle magazine and serves on the judging panel of Lifetime's Thursday night show Project Runway.

Nina sets the mood when each chapter opens with quotes such as:
Fashion fades,style is eternal--Coco Chanel
Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.--Bette Midler
or my favorite:
The more you know, the less you need.--Aboriginal saying

With simple step by step chapters and darling illustrations by Ruben Toledo you are shown how to Be your own muse, The Basics, Inspirations, What to wear when, Insider tips and tricks, Fashion cliff's notes Decade by Decade and closing remarks where Garcia speaks to you on a personal level and encourages the reader to most importantly:
"Find out who you are and who you want to be in the world. I hope you choose to be fabulous, daring, fun, inspired, and yourself."

I keep this book on my vanity stand so that it is always with in reach when getting dressed to go out. The Little Black Book of Style is more than just a bedside handbook though, it is a book that encourages and inspires the reader to become the best version of themselves and to embrace who they are on the inside.

Project Runway Recap.

Spoiler Alert!
Challenge: "Create your own take on Classic American sports wear with Jacqueline Kennedy as your muse"
$300 budget.
GO!
The designers went confidently into the challenge with very little drama but as always a few with questionable style choices.
Michael D created a Milk made design "Crucible" look with a high waisted skirt that ended up a bit too short on the runway and packed on inches onto his models waist. Ivy rushed to the last minuet without even fitting it to her model. Good news: They had an extra day before sending it to the runway. Bad news: They now had to add outerwear to the look.
It wouldn't be PR without a bit of trash talk. Michael Costello was under the bus again with his Donna Karen knock off. And Valerie struggled with commitment in her design.
As always it all comes together on the runway. Ivy's pants suit was fabulous. With wide trousers, sleeveless blouse with an open neck line and light blouse grey overcoat, and round rimmed glasses. Gretchen was more camel color fabric and somewhat forgettable but safe. Valerie's "mall wear" was anything but Jackie O and Mondo worked it out with a purple hounds tooth skirt, paired with a black and white striped top under a short black purple lined jacket. Not to be out shined by his own personal wardrobe choice of black, tiny, boy short-shorts with suspenders.
